News broke barely 6 hours ago, that Leo Jason Ch'ng has passed away. Leo Club of Anderson deeply mourns his passing, especially under the circumstances that it occured.

Following is the distributed SMS from DC Lion Alan Thoo, and following the news report from The Star for reference.

"Dear leos and lions, jason, president chung ling high school is confirm dead after his dragon boat race capsized.. Join us in prayers, whatever religion we are, lets pray for him."

Charity Home Hopping - Penang!

Yes, we are done with our Charity Home Hopping in Ipoh. But if you thought this is the end of it, WELL guess WHAT?! We're back with more!!

Presenting, Charity Home Hopping - Penang Leg!!! Through this competition, participating Leos will be charitably helping out in homes, and also to generate awareness for the Leos and their activities, as video footage WILL be posted on District 308 B2 LEO WebTV. Also, we aim to develop teamwork, discipline, tolerance, independence, self-endurance, and leadership in the participant Leos and Lions.

Note: Registration is limited to 3 groups (4 in a group) and will be on a first-come first-serve basis.

Date: 27th December 2009 (Sunday)

Time: 8.00am to 6.00pm

Venue: Penang - TBA (gathering point will be announced directly to participants)

Grand Prize: RM500.00 grant for the winning Leos' club charity projects (!!!)

Visit to Kuching!

23th December 2009
As the President , I took a flight to Kuching , Sarawak this morning , having the thought of meeting with the International Director Hjh Ellis Suriati and not to miss the Kuching Leos which is from another District. Lion Marcus and Leo Jonathan from Leo Club of Penang City (O) tagged along as well. We took the 9.45 a.m flight and reach at about 11.15 a.m. It was a tiring journey but what comes next definitely worth the wait. Later , we checked in to the hotel and went straight ahead over to the International Director Hjh Ellis Suriati's office. Once there , we had some great conversation with her and even had lunch together.

Later on , We dropped by the Salvation Boy's Home to give away some Christmas Gifts. It was fun as we played some card games , computer games and even basketball together with the boys.

We had a great time with them. We went back for a bath and head straight to Four Points Hotel to meet up with some of the Kuching Leos for a fellowship dinner. It was great having to know them as they are extremely friendly and nice.

Fellowship Fellowship Fellowship... Yes! As we're here in Damansara Perdana , PJ , it'll be weird if we don't get out and have some fun , right? Hence , we went out with SMI Leo Club President Leo Steven Tiw and Leo Soon Zheng Hoong to a nearby fun fair. Our 'G.O.H' for that day , Lion Sherox kindly accompanied us on this 'run ride' and we had GREAT fun. We took this opportunity to try out the ever-frightening ' Challenger' and not to mention , 'THE VORTEX'!!

Malaysian Celebrities Go Green - Keep Our Sg Kinta Clean

8th September 2009.

On this very day, some 60 Perak Leos from various and numerous clubs gathered to join in the fun as Baki Zainal, Dina, Azizi Zakaria, and Soo Wincci cleaned up Perak's renowned river, the Kinta River!!! From Anderson alone, 10 odd members took the time to help clean up the river banks in this momentous event. Among the discarded waste collected from the river are plastic bags, broken bottles, old tyres, old jeans and sizablepieces of wood. After the clean-up operation, a tiny army of plants were planted to sustain the surrounding greenery. The aftermath also proved fruitful, as the Leos were able to discuss their future projects and plans all together.

A note from the editor:

Cleaning up Sungai Kinta isn't the easiest of jobs. This gigantic river sprawls through 4 districts and runs for a good 100km, and is fed by 11 tributaries all over the state. A sporadically cleaner Kinta would require a dedicated professional task force leading operations to complete this epic task.

Will you, my fellow Leos, take a step forward, put a hand, open and extended, to push forward this movement, to push forward the betterment of our community? I leave this question unanswered, but I am certain it will be apparent, twenty, thirty years forward. Whether we put our Lion's spirit into this effort. Our effort.

Cross Regional Joint Visit To the 'Little Sisters of the Poor' In Penang

Yes! Instead of spending our school holidays having vacations, hanging out with friends or even wasting time slacking at home, 5 members from LCOA decided to organize an old folks visit to the 'Little Sisters of the poor' located in Penang. We want to thank Leo Club of Penang Chinese Girl High School, Leo Club of Union High School, Leo Club of Penang City, Leo Club of Chung Ling High School, Leo Club of Convent Datuk Keramat and Lion Marcus Loh from Lions Club of Ipoh Metro New Century for joining us in the visit!

The sole purpose of this visit was to appreciate the senior citizens so that when we become senior citizens, we'll be appreciated by society. The support and help from the local Leo's and guidance from an experienced Lion made the visit a successful and memorable visit!

After the visit, the Leo's decided to have lunch feasting on the famous 'Laksa' of Penang and Leo Him Keat of Penang City (the one wearing blue on the left) was so carried away indulging in the Laksa that he didn't even notice that a group picture was being taken. That's how nice is the Laksa of Penang :)

'Charity Home Hopping' by District 308b2

Yes! This is the 'Amazing Race'-ish idea that was mentioned in our District 308b2 Leo Blog. We are now sharing this opportunity to do charity and have fellowship to everyone including outer District as well.

If you are wondering how the game works or the R&R , here is it!

Requirements:-
1. Form 1 team of not more than 5 people
2. 1 must be able to drive , and has a car
3. Driver can be a Lions member, of whom will be the judge and moderator of your activities!

The Gameplan:-
1. Identify 10 Orphanage in your region within 30km in radius.
2. Contact all these orphanage giving them specific time on your arrival at their home.
3. Obtain approval from your sponsoring Lions Clubs and school authorities (if applicable)

The Task:-
1. You need to go to each of the home, perform a community service at their home all within 1 hour, and the caretaker of the home MUST be happy and sign off on a form that they give you a "pass"!
2. The services include the following:
a) Toilet cleaning
b) Cooking lunch or dinner or preparing something for tea time for the kids
c) Cleaning up bedroom
d) painting?
e) Anything else - you have to propose what you intend to do ya.. and which home (with their approvals too!)

IMPORTANT: -
At every home, you are required to upload a few photos of ytmailour team's activities on a designated Facebook account. At central control , someone will monitor who sends in first! Teams will be given marks etc etc!

THE CHAMPION
The Champion team will walk away with RM 500.00 worth of grant for your club to perform community service!

Charity Home Hopping

LCOA was given the opportunity to excecute the pilot test of "Charity Home Hopping". DC Alan Thoo courteously joined us, bringing along sponsored goods from DiGi!! Penang City Leo also joined us.

We visited a two homes, Joyful Home & Precious Gift Home in Ipoh, spending about half an hour in each home, handing out the goodies to the children, making the day for close to 50 kids!

Peace-poster Colouring and Drawing competition

18 OCTOBER- Members from Leo Club of Anderson helped out in the Peace Poster Colouring and Drawing competition organized by 7 Lions Clubs from Perak namely Lions Club of Ipoh Host, Lions Club of Batu Gajah, Lions Club of Ipoh Central, Lions Club of Ipoh City, Lions Club of Kinta, Lions Club of Evergreen and Lions Club of Ipoh Greentown at SJK(C) Chung San. The peace poster project was an initiative aimed to create awareness about the importance of peaceful world to the students .This project managed to encourage students who took part in the competition take note on peace of the world that provides happiness and harmony.The combined between the Lions Clubs and Leo Clubs brought this successful project.DG Choong Kwei Loi and Vice DG Hudson Hah attended to this event too.

Happy Raya Aidil Fitri

I would really like to take this opportunity , before it is too late , to just wish everyone not just the Malays or Muslims but EVERYONE a 'Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Fitri'! Personally , i don't quite know much about this particular occasion. However , I believe it is a GREAT one...

I was told that Malays take this time to travel back to their hometown or what everyone likes to call 'Balik Kampung' (even there's a song for it.. isn't is AWESOME?) to visit their beloved ones as families get seperated owing to several reasons such as School , Work , etc etc. It's like another version of our very own 'Chinese New Year'.. just without ang paos. Instead , they have Nasi Lemak!! LOL joking.. You just have to give them credit for their nasi lemaks... It's undeniable that Malays make the best , and i do mean THE best Nasi Lemaks.

There's many more but let's just keep them for another time , shall we? Besides that , I was told that they invites people from all walks of life to their 'open house' session for some meals and some chit-chats. Ain't that wonderful? This brings fellowshipping to a whole new level. Imagine the fun!

Speaking of which , doesn't it reflect on us, Leos? We could do the same! I'm not saying that we should make our own 'Hari Raya' (that would be a good idea , actually) but im saying , we should get together more sometime. We all learn about Teamwork , Unity and Cooperation everyday but we should apply it more on our daily lifes.

Leos is a group of people teaming up to serve the community , as we all know. With greater bonds , we are one step closer to that goal. Therefore , i urge all Leos to have more fellowships with one another. Frankly , I do believe that our region , REGION 4 is the most unified region of all. Let's 'unify' even more! haha... As what our District Chairperson , Lion Alan Thoo has repeated over and over again , let's heed his advice and let's have fellowship! Cross Regions! Go hang out... 'The most lasting and strongest ship is FriendShip' , told by some friends of mine.

25th July 2009-A great event was held at Ipoh City Hall which is the Musical Variety Show 8(MVS)!! The purpose of this event is to fund raise for Anderson Premier Military Band(APMB) to build their very own building. Leo Club of Anderson take this oppurtunity to help out this event. Kedah Installation

10th July 2009-The installation of the Board of Directors for the 4 Leo clubs in Kedah.The installation was held at Alor Setar,2 members from Leo Club of Anderson attended the installation.An amazing installation.We left at about 11p.m and arrived at around 3.00 a.m took a rest before we attend the PJI installation on 11th of July.

This meeting was attended by 2 Leo member and 8 Board Of Directors. The meeting was called to order at 12.05 pm sharp and was adjourned at 1.00 pm. The project meeting was leaded by our Organizing Chairperson(OC) Leo Lee Eu Meng. We discussed about the souvenir's and the backdrop of the function. Performances, item presentations and sketches were also discussed and the idea was agreed.

11th of July 2009- Members from Leo Club of Anderson has attended the Installation of Leo Club of Petaling Jaya Integrity PJI ( Omega ).On that morning,we took a bus from Medan Kit bus station.The members from Leo Club of PJI brought us to the Auditorium of Yuk Chai primary school.The installation starts at 2.00 pm and ends at about 4.00 pm.On the 2nd day,we had a fellowship day with DC Lion Alan Thoo and the RCC for Region 5 , Lion Clayton Tan and also the PJI Leos.We had our breakfast at the famous restaurant ' Nasi Lemak Cikgu ' for some tasteful syrup drink and nasi lemak.Yummy.Before enjoying our delicious nasi lemak, we chit chat with the leos.They're quite nice.After breakfast,We went to 1 Utama Shopping Centre.Took some cool photos and shopping!Time runs so fast.We took a bus back to Ipoh and reach about 5.00 p.m.We enjoyed this installation and the fellowship day so much and hope that we can jointly organise projects in the future.Here's some photos taken on that day.

CROSSOVER 09' MEGA CHARITY CONCERT

On the 4th of July 2009, Leo Club of Anderson jointly organised the 'CROSSOVER 09 'MEGA CHARITY CONCERT' with KBOX KARAOKE at Yuk Choy Primary School Hall. 50% of the profits goes to the ' National Kidney Foundation ' (NKF). Our club was put in charge of the entrance, exit, stage coordinator of the concert as well as our own booth there.

On that day,we attended the rehearsal for the concert.After the rehearsal, we had our lunch there and set up everything.On the same day, we went to the Perak Girls School ( PGS ) to distribute flyers for that concert.Our own booth selling the fridge magnets for donation to ' NKF '.A meaningful concert for charity.16 members from our club took part in this project.This project was done successfully.The dancers and singers had performed many great performances.After the concert, we clean up the hall and arrange all the stuff to its original position.Although we worked for the whole day, but its worth.For charity? haha...

Region 3 Farewell " A Pirate's Conquest "

On the 14th June 2009 - The Leo Club of Anderson jointly organized a regional farewell with Leo Clubs of :

Ipoh Metro ( Omega )
St.Michael's Institution
Sam Tet
St.Bernadette's Convent
Ave Maria Convent.

We gathered at "Chin Woo Hall" before the day of the farewell, our members helped for the preparation with other Leo Clubs. We decorated the place and arranged the chairs in the hall.

The Farewell was attended by the District Chairperson for Leo Clubs 2008/2009 ,Lion May Cheah and the District Chairperson for the fiscal year 2009/2010,Lion Alan Thoo.

This farewell aims to thanks and appreciate the outgoing Board of Directors (BOD) for their hard work, efforts to the club as well as their invaluable guidance for the incoming BOD. Thanks to all the outgoing BOD!

The theme for this farewell was "A Pirate's Conquest". The hall was beautifully adorned with emblems and skulls. On that day, whoever didn't have a pirate's costume were required to ink themselves with provided face paint. It was certainly a very fun farewell for all the outgoings and everybody else.

36th MD Leo Forum!!!

21 members from our club went for Leo Forum. On the first day, we gathered at Sam Tet school and left Ipoh around 9.30 a.m. Once we reached there, everybody got stuck in the hotel "traffic jam" at the F&B. We were taken on a few tours around Penang. The forum's "Special Project" was a huge highlight of the day. We cleaned up the river by throwing the a lot of mudballs made of "Effective Mircoorganism" (EM) into the river bed. EM functions by clearing out all the dirt and toxic, polluted substances by a complex chemical reaction in the water.

Superhero Night was one of the most memorable experiences of this year's Leo Forum. On that night, everyone is supposed to don superhero costumes and some even brought special equipment. All in all, Leo Forum was an unforgettable experience, and all of us hope next year's forum will be as cekap-fying!!!

Well. The Leo Idol Grand Finals is over! And the Leo Club of Anderson is proud to announce the champion, Leo Jeremy Goh! Yes, our very own vice president! Congratulations Remmy!!!

Well, let's get down to the details of the trip. For those of you who don't know, the Leo Club of Anderson chartered a bus down to KL to support our Vice President Leo Jeremy Goh @ Leo Idol! A number of the Leo Clubs in Ipoh, namely Leo Clubs of Sultan Idris Shah, St. Bernadette's Convent, Sam Tet and St. Michael's Institution were invited to tag along on the bus. Approximate 40 people were on the bus, including Lion Mary Goh!

Everybody gathered @ Medan Kit at 7.30 a.m. Early huh? The bus departed for KL at 8, and reached KL at 11, then to Sungei Wang Plaza @ 12. We had free time till 3.15p.m., and most of the Leos went shopping. Leo Club of Anderson & SMI, however, helped set up things for Leo Idol! Way to go!

At 4.00p.m., the time has come, and Leo Idol starts! In the first round! All the contestants performed a song of their own choice. After that, we had 2 great performances, one from Aesar Mustaffa and the other from Ashraf! After that, the results of round 1 were announced. Jeremy & Andrew proceed!

For the second round, both finalists were required to sing "I Pledge", written by Lion Alan Thoo a.k.a. Ah Tu! Following was a moment of charity. Baki Zainal called out Lion Shirley Koh, Fundraising Director of the National Kidney Foundation, along with Azizi Zakaria, Teen Ambassador of NKF. Both of them gave a short message the importance of taking care of our kidneys, and the objectives of NKF. After that was the mock cheque presentation, where the Leo Clubs of Region 3 & 4 presented cheques to mark their donation and support worth RM1,400 and RM 590 respectively to NKF.

Next was a performance by Dina, who performed 2 numbers for the audience, namely, "If I Ain't Got You" and "Please Don't Stop the Music". After that, the results were announced!!!

After the results, all 5 finalists sang "I Pledge" together!

After the event wraps up, the Leo Club of Anderson helps to clear up the place. At 7.00p.m., everyone heads out to buy their own dinner back to the bus. The bus departed @ 8 p.m., and reached Ipoh at 11p.m. Indeed, it was time well spent.

This project is aimed at creating awareness for students in Anderson School
about the importance of taking care of our kidneys! Seen here, our club
managed to raise RM 548.00 for the National Kidney Foundation (NKF)....

LEADERSHIP SEMINAR, WORKSHOP & EXAMINATIONS FOR CLD PROGRAM

12 members from the Leo Club of Anderson, Ipoh, took part in the recent "Leadership" examination. This was a very interesting session conducted by Multiple District 308 Leo Chairperson, Lion Dato Khoo Kay Huat and District Chairperson for Leo Clubs, Lion May Cheah. The event was also attended by RCC Lion Alan Thoo.

Orientation Seminar and Examinations (CLD) At SMJK Pei Yuan,Kampar

On November 22, 2008 (Saturday) , Leo Club Of Anderson went to S.M.J.K Pei Yuan for the Orientation Seminar And Examination (CLD) , organized by Leo Club Of Pei Yuan. They generously invited other Leo members from Anderson (us) , ACS Kampar and Idris Shah Gopeng instead of hosting only for themselves. We are grateful for their generosity and hospitality.

About 40+ members turned up. Approximately 8 Leo Club of Anderson members were presented. Some of us have made new friends. A wonderful day , it was.

Before we started our examination , each Leo Club must send a representative to say out the 'Leo Pledge' correctly.
